There is plenty of software for a sole trader, and plenty for a company with a full office behind it. The gap sits in the middle, and it is a wide one.

Once you put on a third or fourth set of hands you are running a real business: progress claims, retention, variations, subbies, wholesaler accounts, compliance paperwork and a crew who need to be told where to go. The cheap apps stop well short of that. The serious ones charge per user from the very first person, and half of what you actually need sits behind a higher tier or a paid module.
